There’s always been something unmistakably bold about Delhi – a design language that isn’t afraid to challenge norms, a curiosity that fuels its thinkers, and a history that is anything but static. This distinct spirit echoed throughout the halls of iDAC Delhi 2025, creating an experience that felt both familiar and refreshingly new. From April 3rd to 5th, iDAC unfolded for the first time in the capital at NSIC Grounds, Okhla. While this marked an exciting geographical shift for the platform, what truly stood out was the emotional shift it ignited. Branded under the theme “By Delhi, For Delhi”, the event struck a deep chord with the local community – not by offering ready-made answers, but by opening the floor to important questions, inviting exploration, reflection, and dialogue.
A Content Canvas Painted by Delhi’s Finest Minds At the heart of this edition was the content – thoughtfully curated and shaped by some of the industry’s sharpest minds. Industry stalwarts like Sonali Bhagwati, Sunita Kohli, Priyanka Khanna, Sushant Verma, Vivek Gupta, and Mohit Hajela infused the programming with their layered perspectives and experiences. Their voices helped ground the conversations in both local narratives and global relevance. Steering this vision were curators such as Anupam Mittal, Anoj Tevatia, Anuj Bhandari, Jay Kaktikar, Madhup Mazumder, Mohanbir Singh, and Nilanjan Bhowal – each bringing their unique lens to the table, ensuring that every session resonated with the diversity and dynamism that defines Delhi.
Conversations Over Commands: The speaker sessions set the tone early, with inspiring voices like Ankon Mitra, Vivek Bhole, Mitu Mathur, and Reza Kabul leading thought-provoking discussions. They didn’t merely present concepts – they shared stories, weaving narratives of placemaking, climate resilience, and the subtle role of technology in shaping future spaces. There was a refreshing openness to these sessions – where the goal wasn’t to instruct but to exchange, question, and refine ideas. A Marketplace of Dialogue, Not Just Displays On the exhibition floor, the energy felt distinctly non-transactional. It wasn’t just about products and booths; it was about conversations and collaborations. Brands and attendees weren’t exchanging mere brochures – they were exchanging perspectives. The space felt less like a trade fair and more like an evolving dialogue between the old and the new, the built and the imagined. The Return of Insider Tour: Elevating Experiences A highlight at Delhi was the much-anticipated Insider Tour, a concept first launched at iDAC Mumbai. This exclusive, guided journey brought together industry influencers and experts to explore and engage with the most brilliant products and innovations across architecture, design, and construction. Led by prominent voices like Binita Gandhi, Maha K, Khushboo Madan, Navneet Sandhu Singh, Sonika Khurana Sethi, and Utsav Kamboj, the tour transformed into an immersive, collaborative, and thought-provoking experience – a format that resonated deeply with the attendees. Nurturing the Next Generation Through the Student Program One of the standout features of iDAC Delhi 2025 was the Student Program, which wasn’t treated as an add-on but as a central pillar of the event. With leading architects like Abhishek Bij and Sabeena Khanna taking the lead, these sessions moved far beyond textbook theory. Through portfolio reviews, interactive engagements, and real-world problem-solving, students were empowered to think critically, explore possibilities, and discover their voice in the design world. It was an environment that didn’t tell them what to think -it challenged them to discover who they could become. More Than an Event – A Dialogue That Belonged to Delhi Looking back, iDAC Delhi 2025 wasn’t about replicating past successes – it was about embracing Delhi’s unique identity. It welcomed complexity, encouraged honest dialogue, and acknowledged that while the built environment is intricate, meaningful transformation begins with conversations that are thoughtful, inclusive, and brave. As this chapter comes to a close, it’s clear that iDAC continues to be more than just an event platform. It remains a space where the industry pauses – to reconnect with its purpose, to realign its vision, and to return with renewed clarity and passion.
